DEMO DIP

CONFERENCE

 3:00PM Main Auditorium

20230909-MixMaster-Music-Conference-5 (1).webp

Have you ever wondered what happens to all that music you’ve submitted to festival bookers, venues managers or radio stations once you’ve hit send or mailed your CD?

Well, at the Demo Dip, you get a chance to peel back the curtain and experience how the folks on the receiving end of your submissions sift through the tons of music they receive.

For Demo Dip, musicians and bands submit their demo song via the form below, and one-by-one, a track is selected at random and the whole room (including a panel of industry experts) will listen to about a minute of the track. Our panel will then offer feedback based on what they heard.

You may learn about some other successful artists that our panelists are reminded of, or perhaps a venue or audience that they feel could respond well to your sound. You may find out whether a radio DJ would play the track on their show, or if a promoter or talent buyer will be interested in hearing more or seeing a live show.

The Demo Dip is a fun and constructive process, focused on helping artists understand how their sound is perceived, and to share feedback on production, booking and future avenues to explore.

DEMO DIPS TIPS

Submit via a web link

Submit just one song, and make it your best one. Submissions are via a direct web link to an audio file (Soundcloud, Dropbox, Google Drive, Bandcamp). This is supposed to be an unreleased track, so we will not play songs from Spotify or other music libraries.

Make an Impact

60 seconds is not a very long time, so pick a song that gets to the point quickly! The Demo Dip is not a place to try to build a slow, long contemplative moody piece. What do you want a radio DJ or booker to learn about your music in just 60 seconds?

Keep an Open Mind

This is a casual opportunity to hear and see how industry professional react to your music. Feedback will be offered in a positive and constructive way, so be sure to receive it that in that spirit. We’ll all have something to learn from it!
